Bright cut pewter buttons date from the 1890’s and are just breathtaking! The artisans would lay a tint over the pewter button then cut out the design and add the gold & other colors to go with the bright pewter. The buttons without a dangle have a deeper burgundy tint & the buttons with the dangles have almost a neutral tint..a muddy burgundy or blue. Yummy!
