If jewelry could talk….what could this piece tell us? It has no markings, which would likely date it before 1906 when hallmarking jewelry was regulated in the country. (There are antique European pieces that are very old that have been hallmarked.) I don’t believe it is solid gold, but based on the patina and fine detailing I believe it may be gold filled, but I have not tested it. I am guessing the time period is Victorian Revival. An extremely unusual detail is a mirror opposite the photo compartment, I have never seen this. It is a wonderful piece and I haven’t been able to find any similar items for comparison. It is original except I have added a Victorian clip to hang it from to give it an extra something. I am happy to permanently seal the clip if you do not want to use the feature and would like to secure it in place. I acquired this at a good price and am passing the pricing on to you. You could be getting a steal, but I just want you to have a piece you love.
