This is a button, most likely post 1920’s, that is made to look like an expensive jeweled button on Bakelite.  I believe it is all plastic, celluloid and some type of metal trim. Nonetheless, it is striking and large and would finish off a textile product with much drama!

The figures on this button were representations of characters from the Early professional theatre called Commedia dell’arte also called Italian Comedy, since it originated in Italy.
