China Buttons were manufactured from 1918’s to 1930’s, in France, Germany & Austria. They were utilitarian in use but the bright colors and patterns also made them decorative. The light tan color stenciled on these buttons is so soft & beautiful…wearable history!
These earrings are must haves! The abalone shell buttons have the natural wave of the shell as well as rich varied colors. They pick up any color you wear which make them super versatile. They are about the size of a nickel but very light weight. Your new favorite earrings!
Paperweight buttons refer to glass buttons that resemble glass desk paperweights, only smaller. These were first made in Europe in the mid 1800's. Most have a base with a preformed design & a cap of clear glass that covers from the top to the base. Some glass blowers would make these by building on the wire shank, adding the design & then the clear glass all while working over a flame to fuse them into a single piece of glass. In order to use these buttons as earrings, the backs can’t be altered, so I set them into Sterling bezels. The depth is amazing… stunning!
